What Is Google Adsense?
Making Money With Google Adsense
If you take a flashback a few years ago, you’ll see that advertising on the internet was very similar to other types of advertising like newspapers and television.
If you opened a site, you’ll see all different kinds of banners, often very large, presenting and ad for whatever company was paying for the ad space.
The problem with this kind of advertising was that it wasn’t exploiting the fact that the ads were in some kind of newspaper, but were instead presented over the internet.
You’ve probably noticed a lot of these banners as you browse a site. For instants, if you go to an online shop looking for clothing but instead you see a banner that advertises a car.
It would have been nice if the banner was about clothing, right?because then you would have probably clicked it.
That’s exactly what the guys at Google thought of, and they came up with the idea of Google Adsense.
This is known as a targeted advertising program. So what do you do as a website owner?
Instead of jumping to get some banners on your site that your visitors won’t even care about, is you just allocate some region of the screen. Then sign up for the Google Adsense program and insert a small snippet of code on your webpage and Google ensures that in the location you specify, a banner will appear. The banner will present ads relevant to the contents of your site.
Because Google is a search engine company, it’s very easy for them to do this. They look for the keywords in your page, search a database of websites to find the ones related to whatever is on your page, and Boom: a targeted ad.
You, the website owner, get paid a fee for each visitor that clicks on an Adsense banner on your site. Now that’s bound to happen more often than with a traditional banner because people are actually interested in what’s in that banner otherwise they wouldn’t be on your page, would they?
The Google Adsense program also does wonders for the people who want to advertise. The relevancy of this program is also the key to why everyone stays happy.
The advertiser will stay happy cause there’s a relevantly placed advert, the publisher earns money from their content and Google takes their cut.
The benefit of Adsense advertising is also a lot less obtrusive then regular advertising. But this also means you should position the banner better because it’s possible that visitors might miss it altogether.
Google Adsense is an advertising program that is unique because the ads are relevant to the content on the site.
Anyone that wants to advertise pays Google for it. Anyone who wants to get paid by Google wants to put ads on their site. All transactions are run through Google.
The advertisers and publishers get access to statistics which helps them to understand and moderate the effectiveness of their campaign.
The whole process is elegant and simple, and it’s one of the reasons Google are known for their innovation.
